Lesson: Of Things That Matter Most

In Relief Society, the lesson was taught by Sis. Cierra Johnson.  Her lesson was based off President Utchdorf's talk from this past General Conference entitled "Of Things That Matter Most".  Sister Johnson talked about how sometimes we get caught up in things that, in the end, really are not what the Lord wants us to be focusing on at the time.  The things we get caught up in may be GOOD things, but not the most important things.  Sometimes we just make ourselves busy, but just being busy isn't what the Lord wants us to do.  He does want us to be "anxiously engaged in a good cause" (D&C 58:27), but not just being busy in things.  Sis. Johnson posed a question of what can we do when things are chaotic?  Along with reading our scriptures, praying, attending the temple, and keeping the commandments, some sisters commented on reaching out to other people and finding a time to just Be Still.  Sis. Johnson said that sometimes even when our lives may feel chaotic or we may worry unceasingly about things, we need to "Be still and know that I am God" (D&C 101: 16).  The Lord knows us and knows what we need.  He also wants to help us, and just worrying about things displays distrust in God.  He is always there waiting for us to come to him.

Sis. Johnson concluded by reviewing the four relationships that Pres. Utchdorf said where the most importnat things that we should be focusing on.  They are:
1. Our Relationship with God
2. Our Relationship with our Family
3. Our Relationship with our Fellowmen
4. Our Relationship with ourselves

I know that as we pray to the Lord, he will guide us on the things that are most important and what we should be focusing on.  In the end, the "linens" and  the"tapestries" are just extras.  What is really important is our knowledge of Jesus Christ, and that knowledge should move us to the things he would have us do.  The Lord knows us and loves us and is there to help us as we reach out to him.  I am grateful for this knowledge and am grateful to Sis. Johnson for prayfully preparing such a wonderful lesson.  The gospel is true.

Sisters, I hope you are doing well.  Let us know if you need anything!  Lots of Love!!! XOXOXOXOX
